Project description
The high-speed rail project in California is planned to cross Alquist-Priolo Fault Zones near
Grapevine area, including Garlock (White Wolf Fault), the San Andreas Fault, and the San
Gabriel Fault. Briefly research, review, and evaluate the general geological information, fault
maps, and earthquake history for the Grapevine to determine seismic hazards for the various
components of the high-speed rail project. Include at least three distinct earthquakes and their
seismological characteristics, e.g., magnitude, fault mechanism, slip rate, etc. in historical
review. Further, prepare a brief note on ground failures, if any, for each event, e.g., liquefaction,
landslide, lateral spread, settlement, etc. Summarize your findings on the risk probability and
impact.
