Corlett presents us with a moral debate focused on racial profiling based on skin color. The article is a philosophical analysis of the grounds on which racial profiling may be justified. Corlett seeks to analyze the problem of racial profiling with regard to law enforcement. He also explores the circumstances in which discrimination may be justified from a moral standpoint. The authors derive their findings by consulting publications in racial profiling, representative bureaucracy and police socialization. Research carried out by the authors reveals an astonishing fact. This is that black law enforcement agents are culpable of racial profiling in areas where they exist in large numbers.  This paper is particularly useful because it employs both qualitative and quantitative research to generate reliable insights on the impact of representation of minorities on racial profiling.

In this article, Wilson, Dunham and Alpert  present their findings on a study of racial profiling among agents of law enforcement in the United States. The article focuses on intentional discrimination in law enforcement practices and attempts at determining the extent of its influence on racial profiling. It also provides a comparison on the extent of prejudice between the police and other institutions. The authors have consulted previous studies on racial profiling performed by social scientists in order to identify the beliefs that perpetuate racial prejudice in various sectors of society. The study identifies areas of concern that should be addressed to reduce the incidence of racial profiling in society. The authors analyze the impact of racial stereotypes and how they impact judgments of character across various public institutions. Findings show that greater incidences of discrimination exist in the police force than in other institutions. The study is aimed at scholars who are concerned the study of society. The paper useful in that it seeks to present the root causes of racial profiling from the viewpoint of prejudice and discrimination.
